Ace a business developer interview
A business developer opens doors: the recruiter wants a hunter who can generate pipeline and convert. It's all proven through numbers and energy. Here's how to prepare.
The questions you'll almost certainly get
- "How do you build a pipeline from scratch?"
- "What's your approach to cold outreach?"
- "Tell me about the hardest deal you closed."
- "What are your numbers?" (conversion rate, deals closed, revenue generated)
The golden rule: numbers and a prospecting method
Cite concrete results: "40 qualified meetings/month", "22% conversion rate", "+150k pipeline in one quarter." And describe your method (targeting, sequences, CRM tools): a bizdev with no process worries recruiters.
Show your resilience
Prospecting is a stream of "no." Tell how you handle rejection and stay consistent: energy and consistency matter as much as technique.
Prepare your 30-second pitch
You'll likely be asked to pitch the product (theirs or a past one). Be clear, benefit-driven, and close with an engaging question.
Practise on the exact job offer
Every market has its cycle (SaaS, services, enterprise…). Take a mock interview for the role you're targeting: the AI recruiter will put you in real scenarios and you'll get a detailed coaching report.
