Ace a graphic designer interview

In a graphic designer interview, your portfolio is your best argument — but the recruiter also assesses your ability to serve a goal and absorb feedback. Here's how to prepare.

What to expect

  • A commented walkthrough of a few pieces.
  • "How do you handle contradictory client feedback?"
  • "How do you work within an imposed brand identity?"
  • "Tell me about a creative project under heavy time pressure."

The golden rule: creativity serving a goal

For each piece, explain the intent: what message, what audience, what constraint, what result. A designer who justifies choices by the objective reassures; one who talks "taste" worries.

Show you can take feedback

The client relationship is central. Give an example where you turned a critique into an improvement without getting defensive. Maturity with feedback is highly valued.

Own your tools and formats

Creative suite, print/web, formats and technical constraints: be precise about what you actually master and your production process.

Practise on the exact job offer

Every role has its turf (agency, studio, brand, print, digital…). Take a mock interview for the role you're targeting: the AI recruiter will ask the right questions and you'll get a detailed coaching report.
