Ace a scrum master interview

A scrum master isn't a boss: they're a facilitator serving the team. The recruiter tests your stance, your ability to remove blockers and your real (not rote) agility. Here's how to prepare.

The questions you'll almost certainly get

  • "How do you help a team that's stuck?"
  • "How do you handle a team member who isn't playing along?"
  • "What's the difference between a scrum master and a project manager?"
  • "How do you measure the health of an agile team?"

The golden rule: a stance of service, not authority

Emphasise servant leadership: you remove the rocks from the path, you don't give orders. Give a concrete example of a blocker you cleared that unstuck the team.

Show living, not dogmatic, agility

The trap is reciting the Scrum Guide. Instead show how you adapt the ceremonies to the team's real context. Pragmatism beats ritual.

Talk team dynamics

Conflict, motivation, continuous improvement: give an example where you improved collaboration. That's the heart of the job.

Practise on the exact job offer

Every team has its agile maturity. Take a mock interview for the role you're targeting: the AI recruiter will put you in real scenarios and you'll get a detailed coaching report.
