Ace a customer support interview
In customer support, the recruiter assesses one central thing: your ability to solve a problem while keeping the customer happy, even under tension. Here's how to prepare.
The questions you'll almost certainly get
- "A customer is angry and they're right. What do you do?"
- "How do you handle a request you don't know the answer to?"
- "How do you balance speed and quality of response?"
- "Tell me about a time you turned an unhappy customer into a happy one."
The golden rule: empathy + action
The right response to an upset customer always follows the same pattern: listen, acknowledge the emotion, apologise if needed, offer a concrete solution, confirm satisfaction. Show that reflex in the interview.
Own not knowing everything
Saying "I don't know, but I'll find out and get back to you" is an excellent answer. Nobody expects omniscience; they expect reliability.
Know your metrics
Resolution time, satisfaction (CSAT), first-contact resolution: showing you understand these KPIs proves your professionalism.
Practise on the exact job offer
Every support team has its channel and product (chat, phone, email, technical…). Take a mock interview for the role you're targeting: the AI recruiter will put you in real scenarios and you'll get a detailed coaching report.
